What Do We Need To Do When We Arrive?
Class 1 Timetable
Monday 6th, Tuesday 7th, Wednesday 8th September - 9.15am – 12.15pm
Thursday 9th – 9.15am – 1.15pm (with lunch).
Friday 10th September – 9:00am – 3pm (with lunch).
Week commencing Monday 13th September: Children will attend full time. Children can be dropped off between 8.50am and 9.00am and are to be collected at 3.10pm.
Our P.E days will be Tuesday and Wednesday. Children are to come into school in their P.E kit on these days. (During the first week our P.E day will only be Friday).
Please can we ask you make sure that every bit of uniform is named, even socks! In the event the children need to change for any reason it is amazing how these items can go missing! If your child has pierced ears, these must be removed before school.
We would be grateful if you could provide your child with spare underwear and a pair of trousers/shorts/skirt that we can keep at school in case of accidents or messy play!
We would ask that these are named and filled with water and not juice.
We have snack time during the morning which consists of a piece of fruit and milk/water. All children have entitlement to free school milk during the day if they are under the age of five.
Please can your child have their book bag in school every day. We aim to hear each child read/share a book on a one to one basis on a Monday and a Thursday, where books will be changed if deemed necessary. The children will also come home with a reading diary for you record how they get on when sharing the book at home.
Reading is the key skill for the children so we encourage you to read with your children at home for at least 5 – 10 minutes a day. There is also some guidance attached in this welcome letter to give you some ideas for reading time and we will also be holding a reading/phonics workshop for parents once the children have settled in. Sometimes it will be necessary for the children to have the same book for a little longer. This could be because children may need more time to understand what they are reading or practise key words.
When you do share books together, please could you indicate by making a comment in their yellow diary. The comment can be how they found the book, did they enjoy the story, a smiley face or just a signature. It doesn’t matter what colour you want to use! Please see the example below:
Book and Page Numbers
Sam and the Nut
Sarah enjoyed looking at the book. She used the pictures to tell the story and then we read the story together. She could spot two of the new sounds she has learnt in class this week.
Maths Monkey/Sally Story Bunny
We have two other members of our class who will be able to come home with your child for a week to share in reading, maths activities and family time. In their special diary you can record what happens in pictures, drawings or writing. The children really do enjoy sharing their adventures with the rest of the class. Due to our current restrictions, this will start once the children are in full time and the toys will have to be ‘quarantined’ for 72 hours once returned!
We look forward to working with you!
