I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of our small village school, nestled in the heart of the beautiful Essex countryside, where every child truly is at the centre of all we do. Our children join us from Toppesfield and the surrounding villages of Stambourne, Great Yeldham, Sible Hedingham, Castle Hedingham and Ridgewell, with some travelling from as far afield as Halstead.
As a small school, we are fortunate to know our children exceptionally well. This allows us to provide a caring, nurturing and stimulating environment where each child feels valued, supported and encouraged to flourish. We place great emphasis on meeting individual needs within a positive and appropriately challenging learning environment, enabling every child to grow both academically and personally.
Our school is rooted in the belief of “living life in all its fullness.” We are proud of our confident and independent learners who play an active role in the life of the school, developing into well‑rounded individuals. We offer a wide range of clubs that develop a variety of skills, alongside piano lessons delivered through Essex Music Services. All children also take part in Forest School for a minimum of four half‑day sessions each academic year, providing valuable opportunities for outdoor learning and personal development. In addition, pupils are encouraged to take on leadership roles and responsibilities, helping them to build confidence, resilience and a sense of contribution.
Our highly skilled and dedicated staff team shares a common commitment to ensuring the highest standards of care, safety and well‑being, supporting our children as they learn and grow.
Parents and carers play an active and valued role in school life and are deeply committed to supporting their children’s education. The school is proud to be at the heart of the local community and is supported by an active and engaged Governing Body, which works closely with staff to ensure St Margaret’s remains a truly special place to learn.
Everyone at St Margaret’s contributes to the strong sense of family that defines our school. Together, we create a warm, welcoming and friendly environment where children feel happy, safe and excited to learn.
We are extremely proud of our school community and warmly welcome visitors. Visits can be arranged by contacting the school office on 01787 237354 or via email at admin@st-margaretscofe.essex.sch.uk.
