How We Deliver PSHE and RSE |
Impact |
|
Our PSHE and RSE curriculum is the heartbeat of our school. Rooted in our close-knit rural community, our vision is to empower children to understand themselves, build safe, healthy relationships, and care for their mental and physical well-being. We seek to broaden our pupils' horizons, nurturing confident, resilient, and inclusive global citizens who are fully equipped to navigate and contribute to a diverse, modern world. PSHE and RSE link closely to our school vision, particularly in relation to developing acceptance and giving back to the community. |
Our PSHE and RSE Policy was developed in consultation with parents and carers, staff and governors in order to ensure our curriculum is context approrpiate. In order to support teachers to deliver a highly effective and supportive PSHE and RSE curriculum for our children, we use the scheme developed by KAPOW. This was specifically selected after evaluation of different schemes as it demonstrated careful thought around mixed age planning, the resources are clear, factual and well prepared and staff felt it was most suited to our specific context whilst also supporting staff workload. We support the delivery of the KAPOW curriculum with the delivery of resources from No Outsiders. This provides additional materials based on age-appropriate texts and supports children in our school to develop a wider world view. When the non-statutory RSE is delivered in Blossom Class, we meet with parents prior to the sessions to share the materials with them and to ensure they are aware of their right to witdraw from this singular aspect of PSHE and RSE. Materials are also emailed to parents in order to ensure those that are unable to join the meeting have had sight of them. |
After the implementation of this robust PSHE and RSE curriculum children will have developed a range of strategies to keep themselves and others safe and healthy, physically and emotionally. This will include being able to recognise and develop positive and healthy relationship with their peers both now and in the future. As part of this, children will have respect for themselves and others and will have positive body images. Children will also recognise and apply the British Values of Democracy, Tolerance, Mutual respect, Rule of law and Liberty. |
