w/c 2nd January
Our reading this week is: Matthew 2: 1-3
Wise Men Come to Visit Jesus
2 Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem in Judea during the time when Herod was king. After Jesus was born, some wise men from the east came to Jerusalem. 2 They asked people, “Where is the child who has been born to be the king of the Jews? We saw the star that shows he was born. We saw it rise in the sky in the east and have come to worship him.”
3 When King Herod heard about this, it upset him as well as everyone else in Jerusalem.
Prayer for the week:
Dear God,
Help us to be the best that we can be,
To be wise in the worst of times,
To endure through the struggle.
Amen
Song for the week:

In school:
We thought about what the twelve days of Christmas mean to Christians. The 12 days of Christmas mark the period between Christmas and Epiphany. We also used the video below to think about Epiphany and what it means.
Epiphany

Questions to think about at home:
What's the longest journey you have ever been on? How did you prepare?
Did you know that Jesus and his family were once refugees? How do you think this would affect a Christian's or a church's response to refugees arriving in their town?
What could you do to welcome a new person at your school/in your class/on your road?
